Lenta opens two new supermarkets in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg
St. Petersburg, Russia; 28 December 2018 – Lenta, (LSE, MOEX: LNTA) one of the largest retail chains in Russia, is pleased to announce the opening of its supermarkets in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The first store is Lenta supermarket located in Vidnoe, Moscow oblast, at 1A Berezovaya street. The store has a total area of 1,410 sq.m with 898 sq.m of selling space and is open from 8 am to 11 pm, 7 days a week. A broad assortment of products of 9,300 SKUs has been selected specifically for residents of Vidnoe. The store has 70 parking spaces and 8 cash registers. The property is owned by Lenta.
The second store is Lenta supermarket located in Saint-Petersburg at 61 Parashutnaya street. The store has a total area of 1,174 sq.m with 669 sq.m of selling space and is open from 8 am to 11 pm, 7 days a week. A broad assortment of products of 8,000 SKUs has been selected specifically for residents of St. Petersburg. The store has 6 cash registers. The property is leased by Lenta.
Product assortment of supermarkets includes Lenta’s private labels and federal product ranges alongside local produce.
The new openings are Lenta’s fortieth and forty-first supermarket launches in 2018 and bring the total number of Lenta stores to 244 hypermarkets in 89 cities across Russia and 135 supermarkets in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Siberia, Urals and the Central region.
Lenta is the largest hypermarket chain in Russia (in terms of selling space) and the country’s third largest retail chain (in terms of 2017 sales). The Company was founded in 1993 in St. Petersburg. Lenta operates 244 hypermarkets in 89 cities across Russia and 135 supermarkets in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Siberia, Urals and the Central region with a total of approximately 1,467,482 sq.m of selling space. The average Lenta hypermarket store has selling space of approximately 5,500 sq.m. The average Lenta supermarket store has selling space of approximately 800 sq.m. The Company operates seven owned distribution centres.
